Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional form of medicine that is more than 2000 years old. Very fine needles are placed in specific points along the body in order to activate the natural self-healing system. The focus of acupuncture is to treat the cause of disease, maintain health, eliminate specific symptoms, and improve overall wellbeing. The person is considered as a whole and the treatment is tailored specifically for this person at this point in time.
Treatment Effects
The aim of treatment is to improve the patient’s main symptoms. Many patients also report feeling more balanced and relaxed after an acupuncture session, noticing improvements in secondary symptoms in addition to their main complaint, and experiencing increased energy.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. The comprehensive training covers anatomy, physiology and diseases and ensures that the therapist knows exactly how individual points are to be safely needled. Sterile, disposable needles are discarded after single use and all hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to.
What kind of needles are used?
Sterile stainless-steel needles (0.16–0.3 mm thick) are used and disposed of after a single use.
Is acupuncture painful?
No. Thanks to the wafer-thin needles, insertion is painless. In order to achieve the desired result the needle is gently stimulated and most patients describe the resulting sensation as "a slight tug" or "tingling sensation".
